Who are we? I am Chaz Stone; a horticulturally trained dude that is fed up with the current state of agriculture and is dedicated to seeking
a more sustainable and more nutritious solution with regard to food.
"What the heck is Shaolin?" you ask. Shaolin is a sect of Mahayana Buddhism and the
origin of Kung Fu and Ch'an (what the Japanese would call Zen), among other ideologies. I (Chaz) have long been a fan of the TV show Kung
Fu and trained in the so-named martial art for a few years. It may surprise you to learn that Kung Fu literally means ‘great skill achieved through effort.’
In essence, one can become Kung Fu at anything: Football, knitting, computer programming...
We like to think of ourselves as being Kung Fu at gardening. I picked Shaolin for
both its references to Kung Fu and to Zen; one term embodying great skill and a
harmonious method of existence. How's that for 'a' answer?
